Our room was very nice and had robes fro our use in the pool area or the beach. There also were beach towels and blankets for either area. We had a great ocean view from our second-floor balcony where we drank wine and watched sunsets. Though the management could not do anything about it, some people walking on the sidewalk along the ocean-side of the property did not pay attention the signage saying not to smoke; others did not pick up after their dogs.
Great location and nicely remodeled rooms. We had an ocean front room on the third floor, which was perfect. The hallways reveal it's still an older hotel, but the carpet is nice. So do the doors, frames, and other small details (that add up).
Enjoyed being so close to the boardwalk and ocean. Overall had a great time. The front desk staff was great, especially Mercades. She was so helpful and quite pleasant.
Great place to stay with good local restaurants and shopping, and it's Pacific Beach!
Great location on the Waterfront, good facilities, would recommend to all. Bit petty with charging for water in the room after the amount paid for the stay, slightly devalues the hotel.
Great location and amazing staff!
Location to beach, restaurants, Starbucks was ideal. Only 15 mins from airport
Excellent staff customer service, clean rooms (carpet needs some stain removal in hall in places), run of the mill but tidily administered continental breakfast, amenities adequate as promised, obvious recent refurbishment of much of the premises, quiet inside the hotel. Nasty drunken hobos camped outside on ocean boardwalk with no security or police response. More so, no amelioration of loud, loud drunken after-bar partying by young people on said boardwalk beneath our window.
Right on the beach and very convenient to area restaurants and shopping.
Take a tricycle to park because the parking is so small and cramped that you can barely get your car turned down a lane and most everyone has to have a spotter standing outside their car to get the car out of a slot. I could not turn off the bathtub facet, so it ran all four days I was there. The cabinets look like they were bought from IKIA and put together by a chimpanzee since the doors did not fit right and the drawers would not push all the way in. The room was extremely small for a Holiday Inn Express.
Had some extra time at the continental breakfast as my wife slept in. Food was very good. The staff was friendly and did a great job.
Friendly staff when we arrived, however checked out and mentioned the none warm water and the gunk and front desk could care less, tried to inform them for the next guest. Won't be returning. Hard to get to property, shady area parking lot next to dealerships, no warm water in the room, black sand like gunk came out of sink when toilet flushed. Glad it was only a short stay! Very disappointed!
Tight space but comfortable bed and pillows
These people really want to be the best hosts they possibly can be and it shows everywhere. Down to the details like the same enthusiasm from every employee every single time they pick up the phone to answer a request/inquiry. My favorite breakfast of any hotel ever is at the Renaissance in Long Beach. The eggs are milky and not dry and the sausage patties are juicy and not stiff same with bacon. While the drinks served aren't as good the meat and potatoes of the beeakfast items are close to it in quality which is remarkable and commendable. Overall in most respects this people will do right by you and I don't think you can best their customer service. Or attempt thereof. Customer service value for money = crazy good. Bathroom smelled of humidity/mold... A criminal offense to guests as far as I'm concerned. Doors locked everywhere... except for one that is suspiciously left half open in the back of the building next to Rubios.
The room was very clean. The staff was very nice. The continental breakfast and eating area was very Nice too. I have never had such a great choice of food to choose from. And it was delicious! The location is centrally located. We will come back here again. Ana and Yadira were very accomadating and explained everything to us about our room and any other issues. The only thing that went wrong with our stay was that someone's child pulled the fire alarm in the hotel. The hotel had to be evacuated. All of the guests had to leave their rooms. This hotel has a very good alarm system for fires, and security cameras, so at least they were able to find the culprit who pulled the alarm. The staff explained to me that the fire department did arrive, and the family of the child will face a hefty fine for the disturbance. This was of no fault of the hotel. I was pleased to know that they have everything under control. It did make you feel at ease that they take the safety of their customers very seriously. So kudos to the Holiday Inn for making sure their guests are safe!
Friendly staff They didn't have towels in pool area after I called before hand to check if they did and the front desk said yes. I had to walk up back to my room with my kids all dripping wet.
Nice hotel close to zoo etc Door to bathroom stuck frequently. Staff seemed very attentive and eager to fix when advised at checkout
It was a clean room and staff was pleasant and helpful. Near the bay and mission beach but not walking distance as photos suggest. Outside having a tiny room and needing to straddle the toilet to open the bathroom door...especially when trying to get out of the shower....it was a good place to spend the night.
I was warmly greeted and every staff member smiled, said hello, and were genuinely kind. it was clean, well kept, and a great stay for my three grandchildren and I. The breakfast was good, although not my idea of healthy food. But the grandkids likedit. My only complaint would be that the breakfast was served in styrofoam plates and bowls. It wouldn't be difficult to do more recycling and use paper goods. There was an exorbitant amount of waste.
I like that it was clean and smelled clean. The lady at the breakfast, spoke spanish and was really friendly. I didnt like that the restrooms were soooooo small, and the door didnt close sometimes. Overall i didnt like restrooms and the parking too small.
Top-notch hotel! The rooms were spacious, clean and felt very luxury... Staff was great and breakfast was off the chain. Will definitely be coming back soon!
The views from the living room and master bedroom were amazing! We loved the wall of windows.
location to beach. great view of ocean could have used a side entrance instead of going around building coming from the swimming pool
The view was amazing - we were in an upgraded room. We didn't like the first room we saw, but the person in the office gave us keys to see other rooms, and we were amazed at the room we got. Loved the location, the room, the service - we will return.
The view! Right on the beach with uninterrupted views of the Pacific meant we found it hard to leave and do anything else. It was very hot during our time and there was no aircon - made it a bit uncomfortable
Location Location Location Floors were dirty, outside was very dirty specially around dumpster area, stunk. Drug use was heavily around hotel, seemed to be more run down than I can remember from last visit. Great location, just need to work on cleaning the street patio and sidewalks. Spilled drinks and garbage everywhere.
The location is great. Depending on your room, you'll probably have a view of the beach, and there are plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance. The room was a sauna. Even on the first floor, the room retained so much heat that it was hotter than outside no matter what time of the day/night. No A/C, but they did provide a floor fan, which I had at full blast whenever I was in the room. The furniture and cosmetic stuff was nice and modern for the most part, but it was a fledgling attempt to conceal the aged condition of the overall building.
The location is absolutely beautifully amazing. The view is unbelievable. The location is right next to the boardwalk and beach, and is very pet friendly. There are some hours that dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk/beach but there are lots of other close by beaches they are slowed at. Definately recommend this hotel. This hotel is definately an older hotel with a great location and we stayed in September I would have thought that the prices of the rooms would have been a little less than they were.
I'm a single lady, they put me on the bottom floor, though I requested an upper level. NO AC, and since I was on I couldn't open my sliding door during the night. The sliding door opened out to a inner corridor not an individual patio. Decor was dated and ugly. I'm a single lady, they put me on the bottom floor, though I requested an upper level. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The location is great. It's close to all the bars and restaurants. It was also supper nice walking out our door and the beach being right there. The cleaning staff was very rude and didnt clean well at all.
It can be a it noisy at night which would only be a problem if you're trying to go to bed early. If you're not a night person you should probably stay somewhere else it's a great spot for hopping the bars nearby.
Pool area and Spiders in room. Shower curtain fell off tension rod too loose causing the whole thing to fall and hit me in the head.
Staff was accommodating and nice.
Location is awesome. Right on the beach. Pool is good. No air conditioning. We had no chair or furniture of the sort in our room. Hotel it's self needs a face lift.
The view was amazing!
On my way to Sandiego I had to be taken by ambulance from Seatac to not one, but two different hospitals. My family nd I had to stay the night in the hospital in Seattle instead of at the surfer. The next day we had to fight to change our flights with the or lines and supply a dr's note to the airlines so we could have them changes for free. After showing up t the hotel with two hospital bands and a dr's note, the hotel wasn't so forgiving. I still had to pay for the night I missed right before Christmas. If you're looking for a compassionate staff, don't look here
-Close to the beach -Relatively clean -Bathroom was nice -Free parking -Our TV and phone didn't work and when we asked the staff to come take a look they came and poked around and then shrugged their shoulders when they couldn't figure it out -You have to pay for internet -This is the biggest con by far but our last night at the hotel, we woke up in the middle of the night to a huge cockroach crawling across our pillows -No room service the first day -My guess is that this hotel is not very well managed but location makes up for some of that
I liked the cleanliness and remodeled/renovated look with LOTS of room No FRIDGE, no phone, no pool on premises or hot tub, squeaky floor when staying on bottom floor... annoying!! Not worth the amount i paid!!!
This property's staff is very friendly and professional. I have been staying at this hotel for over 25 yrs. And it has never looked and felt as nice it does these days. Location, Location, Location. 1/2 block to the beach, a few blocks along the boardwalk to the pier. Grand and Garnet and all the restaurants and night life you could want. Enjoy
Liked close proximity to the beach. Pretty clean. Breakfast was not really a breakfast, just pastries. Bathroom area is very small with very few towel racks or room around the sink.
There weren't any bath towels in room, no cups to drink water and no decaf coffee. No info was provided in room about hotel and we were not told about continental breakfast. The cleaning staff starts before 1000 and they are very noisy. They all gathered in courtyard area talking, yelling across to each other and laughing. Their large bins on wheels are also very loud. Location was good
The hotel is nice, and is one block from the beach. That was the good part. The staff is incompetent. Woke up in the morning to discover that there were only two hand towels in the room, so had to walk to the lobby to get real towels for showers. TV didn't work - only got snow, not picture - and staff was unable to unwilling to help.
