Attention to detail in terms of furnishings and garden areas and the attentiveness of ALL the staff. The breakfast was exceptional as was the complimentary afternoon cheese and wine. A real delight!
Location was terrific with a great view from the room. Extremely comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the wine/cheese and the breakfast was excellent. Not really a complaint, but the bathroom area was fairly small but that was not unexpected and certainly not an issue.
The staff were friendly, the room was neat and clean. The location is ideal being next to the main street and close to the beach. The building has a sweetly quaint Victorian bed and breakfast feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The location and the style of the Inn itself. I am a director of f&b ata 4diamond hotel in sf, and I am certainly picky about service and comfort. For an Inn, Cetrella was top! Nothing.
Big welcome from Honey, very homely with some excellent touches (glass of wine on arrival, home made cookies available during the day). Good breakfast with cooked options. Located in a wonderful town with excellent walking/cycling.
The historic architecture and warm atmosphere Street had alot oof traffic noise
Excellent location two blocks from beach, two blocks from restaurants. This is an old restored Victorian home and they have stuck to the theme throughout. Lots of flowered wallpaper and antique furniture. Beds are comfortable. TV. Nice gardens. Some of the staff were not as hospitable as I would expect in an inn.
The outstanding event at Centrella Inn was the breakfast----a lot of choice and beautifully cooked and presented---probably the best we had in 6 weeks of travel. The Inn was charming and well situated. Evening drinks and nibbles provided was also a very welcome touch. We liked it all
Great breakfast, excellent cookies and wine social hour, friendly and helpful staff, cozy rooms, convenient location.
Ample rooms that fit 4 people. Free WiFi access and close to the beach in a nice residential area. A very limited breakfast (coffe and muffins) and in a very small reception.
My wife and I stayed at the Martine Inn during Monterey Car Week and, in spite of the elevated activity level throughout the Monterey area, Don, his Grandson and the staff took great care of us. The Inn was our welcome ocean front retreat when we needed a break. Breakfasts were very good and the afternoon "tea" was extensive and tasty. All in all, a delightful stay. Being car week, the room rates were not a bargain but also not totally unreasonable as all area accommodations go up pretty sharply during that time. Also, the rooms are not air conditioned, which is not prominently mentioned. Though the days were pretty warm (August) the ocean front location assured that things cooled down reasonably during the evenings. Sleeping was not at all uncomfortable.
They are meembers of the 4 sisters org. I have always had a good experience with them. Very enjoyable!, It owuld be nice to have a TV in every room. Very good place
Nice accommodation near shops and restaurants. Cozy guesthouse with friendly personell.
We loved the atmosphere, and the food was deliciousm staff was excellent and we felt very comfortable there.
Great location, very helpful staff, nice breakfast included, tastefully appointed, good value. Small room made it difficult for two adults to get settled in.
It was close to the conference I was going to attend and My husband could roam around Monterey with the dog during the day. Very quaint gas fireplace but it is the only source of heat which does not make it conducive for sleeping with the flames going most of the night (Rm. 12). Also the porch light was left on since we had told the clerk we would be a late check in and we were not able to find the switch to turn it off so it would not be too bright in the room for sleeping. Sleeping is alway difficult in a strange place/bed. It's nice to be able to control your environment to help as much as possible.
Staff Rust stains on towels, ground floor room lot of noise and very small.
Lovely to stay in an old victorian with a fireplace in the room and a little patio that had an ocean view. We prefer staying outside the touristy Carmel/Monterrey spots, and this is a short walk to great shops and restaurants in Pacific Grove. Great little touches like coffee & tea service in the lobby, cookies and a free glass of wine (that we missed - from 4-5 only). All staff were very warm and welcoming. If you are a light sleeper, a victorian may be a challenge - can be a little noisy. Breakfast sounded hardier than it was - eggs & potatoes (a tiny scoop on a mini plate, but lots of sides like toast and fruit in the buffet).
The room was so clean and the amenities were fun. The breakfast was amazing. The wine and cheese plate in the evening was yummy and cookies and milk for bed was amazing. So cute and fun. The bed was so comfortable and i loved the staff. They were personable and nice. The location was walking distance from downtown pacific grove which has somd cute places to check out and by a great restaurant peppers. It was a great location and we will definitely stay there again. The parking was tricky. The cars were parked very close together and some were sticking out. But with patience it worked out.
Family rooms are right between staircases that are outside looking into your room. Very loud from other rooms. Seemed old and poorly insulated. Outdoor lighting shined in Windows. Definitely felt dirty in rooms, beds very uncomfortable. Have to be honest because I read people's reviews that liked it and that's why we took family there. Poor decision! Will not recommend or return...
Location was fine. Spacious room. Bed was comfortable. Gas fireplace warmed the room. Crowded breakfast room. Furnishings were tired. Some voices from neighboring room through the wall. Bathroom sink drained slowly and needed to be cleaned.
Building architecture Room cleanliness, size, quality of material. sheets, etc. The heater blows right on the bes and makes sleelinping very uncomfortable when turned on.
We had a nice large room with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Nicely decorated. Very clean. Parking right out front. Comfortable bed. Everything we needed was already in our room.
The maintenance manager was nice, helpful. One of the older hosts was nice. The girl checking in was a smartie. And they never opened the continental breakfast until 8AM. So, the three days I attended my conference that started at 8AM in Monterey, I missed breakfast. !! I deserve a discount for no breakfast access for three days. Who does this? Every other inn around there starts at 6 AM! The room was dated. comfortable bed. The pool not heated, which precludes it's use. the tile in hot tub cracked and missing! And I paid more than was quoted.
The location bathroom needs updating, tiny thin shelf along the wall was the only space to put things, need a surround around the sink.Room cluttered with pictures and two fake flower pots. Not sure why a room near the sea has to have the 'italian countryside' look.It would make the rooms appear more spacious if the clutter was gone &colour scheme reflected sea side theme.?need for outside light on all night.
We stayed in the delux queen cottage and it was perfect! Newly remodeled, spacious, private and quiet with a kitchenette. The cottages don't share walls and have lovely views of landscaping and trees. Wish we would have stayed longer, we will be back.
Clean and quiet location. Easy access to all the area offers. Good value for money No laundry
I thought the hotel was in a great location, you could actually hear the ocean waves at night, and a pretty good price for the area. It was a very quiet location too.
one room had furniture outside in the parking lot waiting for the carpet to dry, yet we were given key and told it was ready. we were not assigned another room in the nearly empty complex and had to wait them out.No black out curtains with bright outside light making room like day time all night long, not good for sleeping. No hot water in the am for a shower, nor hot water in the sink. unconconcered and rude young woman at front desk. will not go back. mostly because of the nasty girl at the desk. told me next time i could go out at night and unscrew the bulb if the light bothered me. Couldnt explain the lack of appropiate curtains. probably out in the parking lot with the other furniture
The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful.
we stayed there a year ago and liked the location, pleasant color of the room, the view outside of our room, the quietness and being close to the ocean walk. So we decided to return and found everything being just as nice. There is nothing we found not to our liking. Thank you!
Beautiful décor is the icing on the cake for this newly remodeled hotel. Tiled bathrooms and pillow top mattresses combined with spacious closets and effective kitchenettes created a down-home luxurious feeling. Easily accessible from the parking lot, the room's manually locked doors allowed you to enter your home-away from home. In addition to all the typical amenities of vending and Wi-Fi, the beautifully tailored grounds were punctuated by a pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit. This affordable hotel had a feeling of opulence that doesn't break the bank. That I had to leave!
The hotel is very simple and the continental breakfast means muffins and coffee. Definetely not a 3 stars.
Badly stained carpet, a/c ventilation grill hadn't seen a brush or duster in years, it was "furry" with dust/dirt.
the room is very beautiful and comfort. The front desk is very helpful. My families love this place very much!
Beach front view and lower level is better easy access to the road and taxis Lady at customer service was really rude. Had to take a taxi to fisherman's warf and aquarium since didn't want to pay for parking there but it is not a walk away from hotel it's a drive, bathroom was not clean and very very tiny.
The location is definitely perfect for a quiet weekend get away. the room was clean and definitely easy enough to check in. Breakfast was good There was an overall musty smell in the room and bathroom. The paint in the bathroom was bubbling off the walls.
The location was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly. The facilities were outdated and there was some water in the parking area.
The location and staff was friendly. Had a mini fridge and microwave which is all you really need. Very clean and had a nice little tv. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I'm not sure if the walls are very thin or because our room was a Couple feet from where the cars park but you could hear every little sound outside of the room. The people above us had lead feet as well buts that's not necessarily the hotels fault.
This hotel depends on its superior location for its business. The facility otherwise is lacking in every other category. There are too many better hotels in the area for the price. It would behoove the owners to spend a little money on this facility as it is run down and inoperative. What work was done was not to any professional level i.e. shower stalls with large holes where the installer completely missed the plumbing opening. We complained that the drain was so slow that standing water backed up 4" deep. Came back that night with no repair. Also came back to an room that had not been cleaned. AM staff would only ARGUE that there was a do not disturb sign on door. We did not leave one.
Location was amazing! The hotel was extremely loud which is a challenge when traveling with a toddler. Most of the staff was helpful but I found Julianna to be rude and abrupt. When asking about a place to get bagels she pointed behind her and said "check lighthouse Ave." even though she had a map in front of her she did not help with directions. Also not helpful during a power outage. I had to ask them for a flashlight! They didn't even check to see if we needed anything.
Price, Breakfast was OK, ocean across the street, breakfast was OK, refrigerator in room was a plus, close to where I needed to go. Below parking felt dicey, rooms need upgrading.
location Garbage trucks outside window at 6 AM Broken heater with poor substitute heat source Noisey alley Parking lot view w/no assigned parking Very dated and worn: bordered on shabby
I liked my view from my room also very comfortable bed
Good location, right at Lover's Point. The free WiFi was good enough to stream a kids show via Netflix. Very noisy with thin walls. The rooms are on the small side with an odd layout. However, it has everything you need for a short stay.
Small room, wich seamed a little run down
Price, location, coziness
The staff was great. The room was very nice and it was large. We were within a mile of the wharf and Cannery Row. The picture on the website must have been taken 20 years ago. The property has aged considerably but it is very well maintained.

Charming, rustic, great location.
Great location across from Asilomar and close to the ocean. Rooms are very dated and worn out. Carpet and bedspread seemed new-ish, but just about everything else was run down or looked pre-1990s. Some lights didn't work and many things were sticky/dirty - remote, lights, knobs. Fireplace nice in another season.
Close to the beach Water was very chlorinated
Excellent location. Old carpet.

Liked the in-room fireplace, warm reception from staff, wifi, wine social hour Some loud plumbing noises at times
Location! It was convenient to all of the restaurants and shops in this beautiful seaside town. None within walking distance but short drives to all. Just a couple of the other guests who chose to talk rather loudly at 2:30 AM outside. Everyone had their windows open .
Walking distance to Asilomar Beach. Pleasant staff. Pet friendly rooms. Driving directions from MapQuest
It was very clean and quiet. Close to beach and shopping. Very happy with the hotel. Nothing
Highly under-rated. Inn-keepers were kind, inviting and informative. Newly remodeled, 5 stars for cleanliness, comfort and convenience. Walk to Asilomar was short block, half the distance compared to many rooms on grounds. Can't think of one thing. It was quiet, beds were very comfortable, water pressure for shower was great, fireplace with heater offered nice vib, fire pit table was delightful in cool morning. Hope good reviews will not hike prices! They deserve kudos

The room was updated. Newly done landscaping. Location was quiet in the late hours. Person at checkin was courteous and helpful. The bed was hard and uncomfortable.
The quiet setting and the close proximity to beach. The staff was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful.
The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. The location is great close to everything. The street is by our room and it's kind a noisy and noticeable. They definitely have to replace the pillows they get so flat and the bed, I don't know what they can do about them but to replace them eventually. I had backache when I woke up in the morning.

The location is excellent. The wifi link for the Internet was somewhat poor. Very slow download and upload speed.. It was good enough for email but nothing else. If you need it as a business traveller, it may not suffice.
Great location very near beach and Asilomar. Not nearly as pretty as the website pictures.
The set up is great-little cabins with three floors and a garage for your car. Would be so convenient if you were traveling with a group. VERY clean. Very spacious bathrooms. Incredibly quiet. I was on the top floor and my room had a open space high up near the ceiling in my bedroom. I'm sure it was just to hide HVAC in an aesthetically pleasing way-but as a solo traveler it made me nervous to not be able to access such a large space. Maybe ask for a 1st or 2nd floor!
Plenty of room, great staff, very well stocked continental breakfast, quiet, high rise toilet and hot shower.
The Rosedale Inn is understated when looking at it from the outside but the interior is all very modern and high quality. The rooms look as if they've just been upgraded because the bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and all contemporary features. The setting is also great--wonderful wooded area.
Mildew in the shower, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, dirty remote control, filthy doors, bugs (e.g. tick) in the room.
