Sofitel Lyon Bellecour

the breakfast was a massive disappointment. I clicked on breakfast included on booking.com and i am a genius 2 member and they we were not expecting to pay for breakfast on top of our room rate! Either way, by 10.00 most of the food had been eaten and when we went to the buffet, there was not a lot of food to chose from. What the signs say and what was available were two different stories. This was no way a 5 star breakfast. I waited 25 minutes for a cup of tea! The bacon was tired and hard. The cheeses were unexciting. The fruit was canned! My friends tried and disliked the cakes. The fresh juices were not freshly squeezed, so this breakfast could have been the same in a 3 or 4 star hotel. The location and view are the only selling point of this hotel!

The foyer is neither smart nor luxurious. The downstairs bar is neither cosy nor sophisticated. A The smell of the place smelt like they had mice...it caught you at the back of your throat and all of us noticed the smell in the lifts and the basement corridor leading to the garage. They charged us €30 for parking, even though we were staying there. The service was so bad that we have decided never to return to this hotel. We can not believe it is a Sofitel, we cannot believe it has 5 star rating!

They changed my Hotel after I received the confirmation to a Very Bad hotel like hostel giving us single and very small beds. Very unprofessional. Never ever will book with Sofitel again, regardless of my numerous trips all around the world.
