Pool The Ocean View Room was not Really an Ocean view. We had to spend a lot more to get a slight view of ocean.
Swimming pool and sea view were so beautiful the room is a little small
Suite at the Montage was fantastic with views to die for - great property with paths to the beach. The room had a comfortable bed, plenty of closet space, the room was made up at night with turn down service - overall one of our favorite places of all time, ever! Food items a little pricy ($100+) for 2 omelets and Belgium waffles for breakfast and while we like nice places to stay we often find that the "high end" food is a little too gourmet for our tastes and we found ourselves not eating on the property after the first day.
Ninguna queja. Volveré, sin duda.
The views No air conditioning
Booked an ocean-front room. It was 1/2 level above the pool and walkway to rooms. No way you could leave the blinds open to enjoy the view without people staring in. Asked for another room and was told none available; this at 3:40 pm. There we still lots of people checking in later. I believe that because I did not book directly, I was not given priority on this and below. And, arrived at 2:00 pm and told we could not check in until 4:00 pm. We were not offered a hospitality room and found later that they had them. When we did check in, were informed that check out was by noon. So, though rented a room for a day...it was really 20 hrs. We were given a dining credit, but in no way made up for the room. And then.....there was the non-operating elevator. After staying at the hotel 20+ times in the past on business, I will not return.
Location, rooms. Customer service could be better, we requested an early check in which they said was not a problem, we got there around 11am their regular check in is at 4:00pm, they told us our room wasn't ready yet but it would be ready soon. 4 hours later and still wasn't, they finally call us around 3:15pm to tell us that our room was ready, so we went to check in and when we said our name they told us it was a mistake that our room wasn't ready yet! So finally we check in at 3:50 pm, I guess still an early check in right? To top it off, when we received our bill, they charged us for a wrong service for almost $100 more! I don't know if we will be back.
Hotel is directly on the beach, and I mean, at high tide, 15 feet from the surf. All rooms face the ocean. Romantic dining restaurant with views of the ocean. There are floodlights illuminating the surf so you can see the ocean while you dine. Below the restaurant is a very cool bar, also, directly on the beach. Excellent location as they say. The pool sundeck is nice and the valet service was good. pool was heated and there is a jacuzzi. The property is older and they can charge the money because of their location. You wouldn't pay this amount if the property wasn't on the beach. Byzantine design and labyrinth of hallways makes for a confusing layout and difficult to get anywhere on the property. The pool is not a resort pool and is only the size and shape of something you would encounter at any discount chain motel. There is no separation of brats from the spa and pool so peace and quiet in those areas with your honey will be difficult.
Location is great! One of the few "private beach" strips in SoCal with bar service on the beach. Great view and beach is swimmer friendly, especially a hundred yards to the north (kelp bed right off the hotel beach...better swimming a hundred yards north). Hotel is historic, and so are the rooms. Bathrooms are still "period" and vintage but functional. NEVER, EVER book a "village view" room. What that means is that your room is on the street side of the hotel, mere feet from a very busy street. We could hear the hoots and hollers from the bar right across the street loud and clear. And, street sweepers and trash trucks do their thing at night. AND, the hotel is NOT air conditioned so the window needs to be open if it's hot. MUCH better to pay the extra cash to be on any side other than the street/east side of the building with an ocean front or garden view.
Location It was horrible it was old and grungy and dirty and there are no locks on the windows there's cracks in the walls carpet was filthy the windows were filthy I have a two-year-old that could open the windows and there is no screen no lock she could've fallen out it was horrible I got food poisoning from the breakfast we had at that restaurant that's attached to the hotel I've been sick for two days it is absolutely horrible and I would never go back
The location is directly on the coast and smack dab on Main Beach which is fantastic. The hotel itself and rooms are ancient and have not been updated AT ALL. The hotel was rebuilt in 1930 (originally 1888). There was no air conditioning, the windows still looked original (single pane) and blocked minimal sound. We heard car alarms incessantly and the people below. The room and bathroom were tiny and old and didn't look clean...mold throughout the bathroom tile grout. The window treatment looked like something out of a horror flick...the rod was completely askew with dirty 70's style curtains. We left the hotel without staying a single night.
I left a pair of heels purposely in the trash basket because they were badly marked and 'banged up' after attending an outdoor wedding in a lemon grove in Oxnard. (I figured that by placing them in the trash it would signify that I was tossing them.) I was pleasantly surprise to receive a phone call from the front desk asking me if I had accidently left them and wanted them mailed to me at home in CT. Amazing
the location is top - very central, next to the Laguna beach and the strip a not-so friendly receptionist put me up in a room facing the street, despite I asked for a quiet room. She cited that there aren't any rooms available, however, I headed out to explore the town and upon my return and later inquiry with reception (much nicer personnel now), there was a room available but at an extra charge which wasn't worthwhile.
Amazing location, our room had a really nice view, the room was clean, small and simply furnished but charming. The hotel is older but I still liked the historical vibe and it felt cozy and quaint. Restaurant had a fantastic view and good food, would happily stay there again. Staff was really nice, price was reasonable, especially for New Years. Could use a fridge in the room.
location, on the beach, great bar, good breakfast the rooms need srucing up.They look tired and worn out.
The staff were very helpful; the food was delicious; and the ocean front views and beach access wonderful. Hotel was originally built in 1929 so the rooms are bit small.
Location was everything, literally right on the sand. Best part about the hotel was the restaurant. Man, where to start! First I must say, me and my girlfriend are not picky travelers. We are completely fine staying in a motel 6 if it is clean and up to par. Hotel Laguna is far from par. Every time we'd go take a shower, the faucet would randomly shoot out scalding hot water and burned my girlfriend twice. Our window was broken, so I had to hang out the window to tighten a loose screw so it would work. We had a garden/ocean view when we booked our hotel, but we looked at nothing but the parking lot all weekend. The staff member that checked us in looked completely disinterested, and couldn't even give us proper change for our receipt. Overall, don't waste your money here, like I said the best part is the restaurant, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Friendly staff, few steps walk to beach, free parking, comfortable bed, bath window opens for fresh air, free breakfast. Cramped & dark room, sink outside toilet area, no coffee in room, elevator difficult to locate, parking free but across busy street/inconvenient.
Brand restaurant on premises, staff was courteous and hotel was close to beach. Room was on the small side as well as bathroom
The hotel was in a great location, and had an awesome rooftop bar/lounge. The room was cozy, and very comfortable. Loved the idea of the overhead fan. The carpet is old and some of the walls are cracking/chipped. The hotel should be renovated for the price they charge per room.
The roof top bar is amazing. The location is perfect for strolling and window shopping. The roof was stuffy at night.
Location was excellent with great beach access. Good value for the money. Hotel staff were excellent. Rooms were very small. I understand the Hotel is undergoing some renovation but a lot of the hotel just looked "tired". Roof top access with view, etc is incredible. Unfortunately, it is open to the public and other catered events so we were never able to get a table there in the evening. The place was absolutely packed (wall to wall people).
I liked the rooftop atmosphere when I get was able to go up and the location. Staff was nice and the room was clean with very a comfortable bed. Breakfast was fairly decent, it was good. I didn't like that I couldn't use some of the areas the hotel offers, like I couldn't have dinner at the restaurant one of the nights I stayed due to a wedding that was happening, I couldn't go to the rooftop and have appetizers for lunch as well for the same reason. I was put in a petite room when that wasn't what I payed for, too small for 2 people, we kept bumping into each other. I was very frustrated by that. The hotel was nice but a bit dated, would I stay there again? Not sure, the small room turned me off.
Great cozy place
This was a nice and comfortable resort with clean rooms and decent food. Rooms have been updated and decor is a hybrid of transitional contemporary and traditional. WiFi was good and Staff was friendly. If you're an ATT mobile subscriber, the cell signal was weak. You will have to switch to calling over WiFi.
The staff went above & beyond to make our stay fabulous!!
The location was wonderful and they took us in last minute, which saved our trip! We had a nice room that was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was nothing spectacular (no extras), more like an inn than an actual hotel.
Friendly staff. Great location for town, beach, and roads. Excellent breakfast en suite. Room was small. Rooms on 100 level kind of loud.
The guy who poured our wine was great! That's a great thing to have. The staff was great too
I loved the location. The staff provided chairs, umbrellas, etc. For the beach. Loved the happy hour on the roof overlooking the ocean!
Room was very comfortable. Perfect location and beautiful views
It was a WONDERFUL place. Quaint. Warm, lovely pool. Sunset view, terrific walking/running path along oceanfront. We loved the "green" mindset too. Enjoyed the ambience of the lobby: pleasant morning jazz music as they offered free Starbucks. And for the price...can't beat it all. I would have liked a heads up on the $29 a day parking fee. Most other hotels/Inns will give you that up front. The receptionist just asked if we had a car (I should have asked I guess), gave me a parking tag and it seemed easy. But we paid less in San Diego downtown to park at the Bristol where there was no parking to be had elsewhere.
Location. . Stuck in one of five rooms that are located on highway. All others look at ocean Gardener starting clipping bushes in front of my room at 7am Room was no better than motel 6.
Location Rooms were in the small side
The staff was very friendly. I felt like family! No microwave in the room
Walking distance to beach, shopping, and all of Laguna's great dining. Also right near grocery store.
Clean and modern The TV in the next room was on all night

Kitchenette & larger bathroom with roomy tub/shower combo. Comfortable bed (Tempur-pedic). Self-parking. Cable box in closet. Light outside of fogged glass door is on (no switch to turn off) until very late at night & makes room 'light' even though blackout curtain covering window.
location and cleanness. Room was big. I did not like stuff, there was no one and nobody could help us with our luggage, second floor without elevator. Public spaces very poor and ugly.
Excellent in nearly every way, especially if you're looking for nice design and great location just across PCH from the coast. The only negative for us was that my lady works night shift and since these rooms have skylights which illuminate the rooms nicely during daylight hours...Nice touch and wonderful, but in our case it was a challenge to sleep during the day.
Great location. Room was very comfortable Only complaint is the faucet to the bathroom sink was broken/loose so you had to be careful when using it to not further damage it. Other then that great place to stay and I'll definitely return in the future.
Location, friendliness, security. Cable box in closet. Wouldn't work with the remote
Great bed. Room clean and outside sitting area was very lovely and comfortable. The kitchenette area was very helpful. The two little refrigerators were useful. The room was dark. There was minimal overhead lighting and no lamps. The couch was uncomfortable. The cabinets in the kitchen were more like pull out drawers and two were difficult to open due to their weight. Noisy due to chatty people and traffic.

It is not a hotel. It is rooms over stores in a shopping area. There is no elevator, no lobby, no valet, with only a floating staircase. Everything. Office which was only a desk in a room was closed when I got there at 10:00. Note said call a number which did not answer the first time I called. No lobby, valet,or elevator, rooms above stores, floating stairs so could not roll luggage up.
Beautifuly kept hotel and grounds. Beautiful room with fireplace. The staff was extremly accomidating and friendly. Could not have asked for a better stay anywhere! There were only a couple of thing with the room that could be better, but they are minute. A second trash can would have been convenient as well as a toilet plunger. The faucet in the sink extended too far out, so washing your face was a bit of a challenge. Small compared to all the amazing things about the room, the hotel and the incredible staff!
Excellent interaction with helpful and professional staff, lovely architecture, location and decor, clean and well-maintained rooms, good complimentary breakfast The pool could be cleaned more frequently and maintained at a slightly warmer temperature
closer to the park and beach than i anticipated, and an easy walk to restaurants traffic noise is almost unbearable. otherwise, minor: garbage behind the night stand, a bulb burned out, smokers by the pool.
I love the location. Very close to the beach, restaurants, Ocean Ave. gas station, market. Also, I love the post card. It's a great way to remember the name and location. I sent 12 cards to my family and friends. The heated pool and fireplace was relaxing
Location close to Heisler Park and within walking distance of downtown. Nice outdoor facilities too. No

Great value and location. Wish there was a hot tub.
It was quaint, parking was available, it was close to downtown. Minor- the bathroom needed a fan to help with the moisture and the wall plugs needed to be tighter to hold my phone charging plug.
I feel that they could take better care of the rooms. The gardens were beautiful. We had to request a clean bed cover for the bed. We had stains. The toilet back up a couple of times but they were quick to fix it. We had to ask for towels. There were four of us and they didn't treat us like it. We had to ask for extra everything. We had to go and get soap the second day. The maid left none. The people who ran it were very nice. No I wouldn't stay with them again
This place was so bad. I had to change rooms twice due to the carpets being wet. Then I was not able to get the heat on. The breakfast was so bad....just go out for breakfast.
No air conditioning. Even though it is on the beach, it was impossible to get a breeze to go through the room because there was only one window (in the bathroom) and the balcony door. Light fixtures, towel rack needs revamping. However, the price is incredible for the location and lots of restaurants, shopping and activities within walking distance.
DO NOT STAY HERE. 2 story hotel complex, with no elevator. No air conditioning. Sure, you can open the windows for ventilation, but then everyone that walks by can see everything you're doing unless you close the really thick curtains, which don't allow in the breeze. So if you're getting ready to go out, you either lose privacy by opening the curtains, or get ready in your unventilated room. And at night, if you leave the balcony and windows open for air, you don't have a screen or anything, so technically someone could reach in or if the balcony is close to the walkway, they could walk in to your room. I'm 5 foot 1, and I practically had to duck to wash my hair in the shower (not an exaggeration). The hot water/cold water gauge didn't work, so you'd have to guess which way was which, and sometimes once you thought you got it right, it just went the complete opposite temperature mid shower. The towel rack fell when I went to pull off the towel. Staff couldn't find my confirmation at c...
Our anniversary trip to Laguna was great. The Capri hotel was clean and we had the honeymoon suite with a fireplace. We had a great time, and the hotel was good. We had a great dinner in town and walked down the beach at night. Overall a great anniversary experience.
This hotel has become me and my wifes favorite place on earth! she and i had a wonderful time in our room the view was breath taking the tv had a dvd player and vhs which was a bonus since we had just bought movies for home there was a mini refridgerator in the room which was good for the wine it was very comfortable i loved it
For starters...the hotel is not as nice as it seems in their website. It is much smaller and it smells. If you are a woman I would strongly suggest to stay away from this hotel. The staff are rude and condescending. The phone, the fridge and the lock were busted and no attempts were made to fix them. The only good thing this hotel has going for it is its location. Other than that...it's just not worth it!
I was very excited because my wife and I arrived at night, but the rooms need a major overhaul. We did not want to step on the carpet with our bare feet because they were so gross. I felt like I was catch a disease from the carpet and bedspread.
Very overrated and over priced. The only thing it has going for it is that it is on the beach. Our room's shower didn't work and patio locks were broken. Both staff members were snotty and not helpful. They gave us a new room after much hassle. That room didn't have a remote for the TV and the phone did not work. Everything in the room was old and broken. Closet doors hard to use, no air conditioning. The pictures of the hotel provided online make it look very fancy. It is a typical, run down beach hotel. All it has going for it is that it is on the beautiful Laguna beach. Wont go there again!
Our experience here was not a good one. The room phone was not connected and there was not a remote for television. All the furniture was old and cheap. There was not an air-conditioner (my mistake for not checking on that). The fan for the room was very small and poorly located and therefore could not cool down the room. The bedding was just adequate. Overall, I felt this room was not worth the mopey we paid. We had to park off site because there was insufficient parking on site. I understand this is common for the beach, but the parking spaces at the off site facility were very small (and my car is not!). I will not stay here again.\n
there was never more than 1 person at the front desk, and they were always backed up. rooms needed remodeling in fact they asked after 3 days if we would move to another room to accomodate a carpet man coming in. we said no. horrible housekeeping and rooms in great need of upgradin.
There was no air conditioning so I brought a fan from home and we also used one of theirs and had them running the whole time. If you stay in a ocean view room, I think one wouldn't be disappointed. for a beach front property, we were very happy with our stay. So much in fact, my husband wanted me to book another night! I did find some things that definetely needed replacing, but I think that is just wear and tear with being on the beach. You can't beat the location, and parking is a tad tight, but we thankfully got there early, and found a spot and left the car for the entire stay! There is a free trolley that will take you into town so you will not need your car. I found the staff very helpful when I had questions. The maintenence and desk staff were VERY helpful and pleasant. The b-fast provided is something to get you through to lunch and is very much what a continential b-fast is supposed to be. Some people wrote how awful it was, but I don't think croisants would warrant that com...
I had a truly great experience at this inn. Firstly, it is owned and operated by the nicest people! Very warm and easy-going. You feel very welcome immediately. Second, the location is amazing. Just a short walk from a gorgeous park and beach. Ocean views from the third building are very pretty and soothing. Definitely try and book that building. Also, interiors of rooms are all newly updated with a contemporary stylish decor. Beds are simply perfect. They were designed just for the inn as part of their renovations. Not too soft, not too firm - just right. Very similar to beds at Four Seasons!! Made to the same specs, I believe. Bathrooms are really high-end with two shower heads, one rainfall, beautiful fixtures, etc. . The owner mentioned that they are waiting for permits to do exterior renovations, so don't be concerned that the outside is not updated! Excellent value in Laguna with the nicest people and gorgeous location. Highly recommend.
Great place. Perfect location with 2 minute walk to private beach. simple and not a big hotel but very nice rooms. owner is really awesome and actually gave us a free bottle of wine.
Independent hotel; cool location; affordable. Laguna Beach is a fun but pricey town. The hotel recommended Madison Square and Gardens Cafe for breakfast and it was great. This hotel is right across the street from a very nice public beach and about 3/4 of a mile from the main strip of shops and galleries and restaurants. They very nicely let us borrow beach toys after it was technically check-out time. Soft fluffy bath towels. 24-hour front desk. Good parking. The person staffing the front desk when we arrived did not acknowledge I was waiting in front of him until he was darn good and ready. The person he was training did, so I knew I wasn't actually invisible. Until he finally greeted me, I honestly couldn't tell if he knew I was there even though I was about two feet in front of him. That was weird and off-putting to start. No fan or other ventilation in the bathroom; the room was like a sauna all day and night even with the AC on. Everything felt sort of clammy. The room seemed more grubby than artsy. Decorative pillows piled on the bed were not appealing, just made me wonder how often those covers got laundered. No accessible electrical outlet by the beds; didn't realize how much I missed that until I couldn't have it. Crumpled up info sheet on the desk in the room said to see hotel map on the other side, but the map was gone. The window did not seem to lock.
The rooms are good size - we had a group of 14 in three rooms (4 were small children) and with 2 queen beds and a hide-a-bed in each room we were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is not a luxury hotel - but very clean and family-oriented! Close to the beach and art galleries and eating places.
The hotel is blocks away from the beach and across be street from the Laguna Beach trolley. The hotel's art work is really cool and we really enjoyed the private balcony the room had. The hotel proprietors seemed a little bit unfocused and honestl a bit worn out. While we were checking in RJ was very helpful with walking a through the local maps, but had to be prompted to give us out room keys. Checking out it seemed as if the woman at the front desk was going through a route script of phrases rather than being genuinely hospitable. Also, the term "ocean view" for the room we booked may be a bit of an overstatement. Yes, you could see the ocean from across Pacific Coast Drive when you stood up on the private balacony, but that was about it. Not a big deal, but I guess we expected more of a view given that the name was labeled as ocean view.
