This is a house like hotel, very simple but nice environment. Personel very kind. No air conditioner
The hotel was very cozy. The rooms are very spacious. The kitchen is open for anyone to use and comes well equipped. The complimentary breakfast is good as well as the small and large breakfasts for 4 and 6 dollars, respectively. They ran out of rice and beans one day and made everything on the house for us. The rooms and clean and cozy. There is plenty of room and hammocks and chairs to lounge around. The hotel is as close to the ocean as legally possible in Costa Rica. There are plenty of shops, grocery stores, and other necessities nearby in walking distance. The staff is amazing. They help give you ideas of things to do like the nearby Monkey Farm and sunset cruises and will help set everything up for you. They will even drive you to the airport for a very reasonable fee. Air Conditioning would be a great improvement. They do not advertise air conditioning so the buyer is fully aware upon booking. They do have multiple swivel fans in the rooms that help to cool and ventilate. The hotel seems green friendly which may be the reason for not having air conditioning. Many travelers would abuse the air conditioning, use it all day long (not just at night) and would cause the hotel rates to rise due to the electricity bill. But do not let the lack of A/C dissuade you from staying at this great hotel.
Our kitchen had only a hot plate and no hot water coming in out of the faucet--no water at all so it wasn't connected. We had to boil water to wash dishes. There were bugs everywhere because the place was pretty much wide open to the outdoors. There was in fact a birds nest in the kitchen and feathers in the dish rack. AC only in the bedrooms and very little space or furniture to do anything else. The staff however was excellent. Big parties went on the the Spanish speaking staff had entertainment going all the time for the children, which sounded like they were having a ball. I however was not.
