Kallisté Hôtel

This is a quietly elegant hotel, recently refurbished, efficiently run. It's 10 minutes walk from the attractive old town of Ajaccio. The staff were courteous and helpful and the rooms excellent. If you book in advance you can park your car underground - though be aware that it costs 20 euros, while parking in the street outside is free if you can find a space (we couldn't.)

Don't have breakfast here. Get it at half the price at the cafe twenty metres down the road. Also they have a problem with their showers, which leak very badly under the doors. Just don't leave anything on the bathroom floors and be prepared to mop up after a shower. I have to say that the ceiling fans are noisy - and you can hear them from the rooms around you. It kept me awake - but the three others in our party didn't notice.

Q. They are doing a beautiful job of keeping the original stonework building incorporated into the modernization. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. After our check out, it was necessary for us to return for a few days due to an accident. They were very accommodating.

They had not finished the renovation on the lobby and courtyard at the time of our stay, so there was no common listing area. Fortunately, there are sidewalk cafes just outside.

The shower was great. The lighting of the room was extraordinary. It was quiet. A small room but we didn’t need it any larger. My wife did her yoga on the balcony.

The shower door leaked.
